Introduction:

One of the most popular gaming platforms, GG-Client, has organized a tournament that showcases 12 of the world's best players. They have dubbed it the GG Race War, as the tournament sets up the races against each other, so prove which race reigns surpreme. Three players from each race were invited to participate over the course of three matchdates.


Tournament Structure:

The tournament would be played King of the Hill style, where each player from each race would go against another player from another race. The losers from the matches will be eliminated, while winners will play against the other remaining winners. Game ends when there are no players left in one team.

However, there is a twist. Similar to the concept of Stars War II, there will be a reviving system to bring back a favorite player from one team. Once all the players of one team has lost, the revived player is able to come back and play again for one last chance to win for his team.

The Lowdown - June 07

The Orc vs Night Elf match has been postponed indefinitely, and would probably continue after all other matches have been played.

Added on June 09, 2006: Grubby solves!

The Human vs Undead matchup suffered quite an upset! Between the three matches, only SK.Insomnia has lost a map against the Undead. However, since MYM]Lucifer won against SK.Insomnia, he needed to play against WE.IGE.Sky and 4K^ToD who won their matches against 4K^FoV and WE.IGE.Sweet, respectively. MYM]Lucifer became the saving grace for the Undead team, as he was able to take down the two remaining Human players, AND he was able to take down WE.IGE.Sky twice when WE.IGE.Sky was revived by his fans, leaving MYM]Lucifer the undisputed star of the matchup!

The Lowdown - June 08

The match between Undead and Orc was a runaway win for the green-skinned warriors. Each and every one of the Orc players were able to earn a win against their Undead opponents! The Undead hero from the last matchup against Human, MYM]Lucifer, was unable to work his deadly magic against the Orc this time around and they were beaten down with a clean 4-0.

The battle between the Sentinel and the Alliance holds a different story as compared to the first. It was a long and arduous match for the Humans and the Night Elves. WE.IGE.ReMinD was the only Night Elf Player who was able to get a win from his team. The two losses from MYM]Moon and WE.IGE.suhO didn't stop the Night Elf team as WE.IGE.ReMinD was able to take down the two Human winners, 4K^ToD and WE.IGE.Sky -- all by himself. However, as WE.IGE.Sky was revived, he was able to get his revenge and took WE.IGE.ReMinD down. But the match wasn't over as MYM]Moon was revived as well -- and finally took down WE.IGE.Sky and brought home the win for the Sentinels.

The Lowdown - June 09

Undead and Nightelf was another long matchup. Both 4K^FoV and MYM]Lucifer were able to win their matches against MYM]Moon and WE.IGE.suhO, but WE.IGE.Sweet lost his against WE.IGE.ReMinD. ReMinD was quickly taken down by the Night Elf killer, and when MYM]Moon was revived, FoV solves yet again!

Human vs Orc was short and bittersweet, with only Grubby winning for the orcs -- but again, since Orc has amassed enough points for their team, they are heralded the winner of the GG Race Wars!

    Damn hot Human line-up and entirely non-Korean too. Orc line-up seem a bit weak, Lyn (and Lyn never was that strong, but there's a real shortage of strong Orc-players) and Zacard just aren't in form right now. UD are always strong and Elves are Elves.

    Imo Ud has the strongest and Orc the "weakest" team. Grubby alone can defeat them all^^ but I think his chances vs Moon and the other NEs are really bad cuz of the well know RACIAL IMBALANCES :P. He might be able to win 1 game but then the imbaness is just to much....I hope he will show the strats he used vs Moon last time but I'm pretty sure they won't work again. It's not as easy as massing talons (or tier 1 or bear/dryads).

    I see that Sky Inso and Tod have prolly discussed with each other what to use vs each race. I dont get it though - every game almost - expand and mass towers.. hmm. But still the AMAZING thing is how tod, sky and inso use exactly the same strats like never before, tehre is no difference, you couldn't recognize them if you didnt know the players' names. These are very interesting wars with crazy matches such as lucifer winning vs the best 3 humans, remind also making wins vs them ... Blah, bad the Humans lost from elves after losing from ud, vs elves i expected at least 4:1 for Hus or smth. Anyway it is greatrace war ! GL today vs orcs my most fav 3 hu players ;)

    the difference is
    cyclone can be countered white taruen CAN dispell and counter them even if its only a little

Esnare was made for the purpose of countering the gay hit-and-run ud tactic... if u got a better army that can kill the orc toe to toe u can win as raiders are useless in battles vs ud ... they dont do extra dmg to nothing and take extra from ghoul/abo... ;]

    I guess they're looking at map score then. The best score the HU team could get even with 4-1 vs Team Grubby is 9-9. On the other hand orc team already has 9-6 map score, so its win by default. Even still, I wanna see the rest of the matches played out too =/

    Playing NE vs. 4K seems like a pain. 2 top players went undefeated against Elves and even Tod hung in there. Wow, I really expected that Human line-up to win though, but in the end, the 'every player must be beaten' emphasises the individuals over the team, so instead of the best team winning, the best player won.

    It's not just mapwins. First they count the number of 'wars' the race won. Orc was 2-0, Undead 2-1, NE 1-2, and Human 0-2. So if Human beat Orc, then Human would be 1-2, and Orc 2-1. That would place Human out of the competition, leaving Orc or Undead. Map score for Undead was 8-8, and Orc was 8-2 (before going up against Human); so all they needed was one win against Human giving them 1 point over UD. So Orc placed first with 9-4 (they say 9-6 because they basically gave the default win to Human, since the games were not necessary).

    I hope that makes it clearer for you all. =) Oh yeah, GO GRUBBY! Haha, impressive performance. Luci and Fov did nice too ;)

    Zad and Lyn also are good players, agreed. But... in those race wars, they only have taken 1 point, while Grubby took the rest of it.

    Hmmm replayer.net has silghtly different result.
    The Orc vs Human match was actually finished, Human won 3 - 2, Zacard was revived and Grubby somehow disappeared after won 2 games o_O.

    U cant say this proves orc are the best race. Zad and Lyn barely win a match whereas Grubby just beats everyone. Grubby is just significantly better than any player there is. He won this tournament.. not orc. If u took out Grubby Tod Sweet and Moon and put in a diff person for each race.. im sure orc wud beat undead only and lose vs hu and elf.

    CnSepy, they played 2 showmatches, Grubby took down Insomnia and Zacard proceeded to lose to Sky and then they proceeded to quit. Sky might actually be able to take down Grub as happened in the groupstage of Masters, but those games never played out (funny how no Orc was revived throughout the tournament as Grubby maintained his unbeaten record).
