unprotecting the dota rickroll map

The video uploader provided a link to the map, but it's for an outdated version.

I wanted to make the map's name show 6.59d, but upon trying to open it with the World Editor, an error occurs. I suppose this has to do with the map being protected. How can I unprotect the map? Is there another way I can change its name?

You also need to change loading screen and minimap preview.

See, I think I could manage with doing all the shit myself, if you haven't the time, so just telling me how to unprotect would also suffice. :)

It's abit boring to extract all pictures and replace them etc but it will be faster than explaining it to you.
Also it's bad to unprotect maps :), i don't unprotect anything, i just replace some pictures.

So, replacing the pic and changing the name of the map does not require unprotecting?

It's kind of unprotection because i edit something than author doesn't want to be edited, but it's not real map it's for jokes, so imo the author will be ok because it will make the joke more credible :)

A buddy of mine, Nathanmx had a unprotector a few years ago. Don't know if it still works or not.

By irony of fate Icefrog just released 6.59d. I would be grateful if you photoshopped both pics directly to 6.59e and change the name again.

70% of dota protection is removal of listfile
20% is code obfuscation with Vexorian's Map Optimizer
rest is deleted trigger files

to be honest, it's almost impossible to open the map in editor, but you can modify separate files, especially script file is vulnerable to editing if you can read through the obfuscated code.

Protection is merely remove the files that the World Editor needs to open the map. There is nothing wrong with it.

We go offtopic but... protecting the map requires you to use a MPQ editor. As far as I remember Blizzard never released official MPQ specs and it was mostly reverse engineered, which is illegal by EULA. I may be wrong though and it would be better to stick to the rickroll topic instead :)
