no it gives you a free month of WoW if the person you rez pays for a month

They've changed how it works a bit, though. It only works on classic now so you need to make sure that you haven't installed BC or WOTLK. Once you've been ressed, you can only play classic during the free time IIRC.

Guess they realised how many people Arthas would bring back that quit two weeks in realising how bad wotlk was :P
