whirlwind ( i think thats what its called) seems like a pretty decent map. i always liked small maps anyway so i thumb it up. but with every new map its just a matter of time before someone realizes you can for example, buy items without getting hurt by creeps etc etc.
are there any of these little tricks in whirlwind and what do you think about the map anyway? ive noticed the creeps are realy strong :/ ( i had to learn that the hard way)
yes creeps are really strong. So it might not be wise to go TC first. need a tank like the wolfs.

Notice how there are only 2 green creep spots and they are located closest to NW and SE starting point? Kinda iffy if you get SW or NE, doesn't it? Thumbs down.

Yes too few green creeps whiel all the orange creep are very strong :/ ...... very hard map to creep if you don't go for a creep hero (bm/cl/am/fs/dl etc....) am i the only one here who think the centar impalers are wayyyy to low lvl for how freaken powerful they are? they hit A TON..... they must be doing way more damage than fiends/rifle with those searing arrows..... and on this map they come with centar sorcerers taht can cast bloodlust (oh lord... lusted impaler= gg all ghouls)

Lusted Centaurs firing searing arrows ... OUCH.
I havent yet been able to figure out a viable creep pattern as Orc.
Though, i have an opinion, with the base AND expo having a single ramp entry, isn't it going to be kinda too easy to avoid base entry? I mean, towers on either side of the ramp, some farms around those towers ... well its like the Lost Temple map from Starcraft! ...
I think a quick expand would be a great strat on this map ... now just to figure how to take down them insane centaur creeps at the natural expansion mine - with 2 grunts and a FS ... hmmm :P

In my first game on this map my opponent turtled and kept trying to expand with mass towers. It took forever to beat him because the bases only have one entrance and some the expansions are very close to the bases.

ye one entrance is bah :( it make noobs turtle en do crazy like omfg and skilled lose like ageees...ive found no way to creep it yet but i think its meant to rush and fight -> for creeping plz go roc t.T
The creeps really are ....i played it undead once that lusted centaurerdude ate me like 3 4 ghouls FFS even when u are running away my god it has range lol :( i hope they weaken them a bit losing units tp creep is to much for me sry ^^

Not having a green creep camp isnt to bad but the fact that the green creep camp dops a Potion of Replenishment evry time makes for serious imba...
Use spells on orange creep camp + Tank with hero = fast creep no losses then use potion and your back to high HP and Mana...
Basically I'd creep the "lusted Centaurs" first followed by a Goldmine since this = lvl 3.

The problem is at least if i'm going UD/ghouls .... if I don't use a DL there's no way I can tank the damage those lusted impaler put up wether I tank with hero or ghouls to not lose anything (until I get statue ofcourse) and UD really does not have the option to tank with heroes in T1 anyway... so that would mean the only possbily viable solution is skele wands..... but then 2 skele doesn't exactly last long either :/ (btw searing arrow does a TON of damage on heroes compare to most other creep damage....)
I'm acturally thinkin that the expo is probably the easiest orange to creep now... cause it doesn't have any impalers.... the medicine pig summoning up those little pigs are still quiet problematic though:/... and the hunter hits pretty hard too.... but it's at least more avoidable than lusting searing arrows......

You can creep those Impalers with any hero and 5 Ghouls without losses (you dont even need skellies, they help though). And you definetly have to tank with your hero at first even when using DK since cooldown on coil is way to low to survive 2 FlamingImpalers (once youve killed one you can move away to let the ghouls take the damage).
But the real danger is that you might get creepjacked by your opponent (who didnt want to face such tough creeps early on) in which case your liable to lose the game right away...

A trick that i've done on Whirlwind before is fast expo and just merc abuse. The mercs on whirlwind are way powerful. Blizz might need to change the map a little later.

The map is perfect for UD vs HU.
Today, I harassed my HU opponent as usual with my DK, and I managed to kill a TON of creeps, grab several items, and kill several footmen, WE's and a Rifleman. My DK was almost level 3 AND I HADN'T CREPT A SINGLE CREEP !!
Perfect map for UD!
AND NO, it's not imbalanced, because destroyers are a joke now. They are simply a weak air unit now. :(

green spot creeps are in imba locations, also, very very easy to fast expand with anyrace.

Ice map = thumb down
I mean come on all green in middle.
Lost temple = thumb down
Worst undead map possible.
Plunder isle
Only good for abusing gargs but you get owned by both human fast expand and orc tower/mass air creeping.
I just can't thumb it down :/, but one good thing about WW is that the entrance is so narrow so you can cover it all with just one nerubian tower. But then again can nightelf cover the whole base with just 2 ancients.

I just played the map, the creeps didn't seem that hard to me... Archmage with WEs 3 footmen and a rifleman creeped the orange spot in your base easily.

you guys all made good points, but i hate going fs first and apparently this map isnt very bm, tc, sh first friendly. so im probally gonna thumb it down.
but then means im gonna have to either play lost temple, the crappy ice one, or gnoll wood TT

It is BM friendly IMHO because you can creepjack the ennemy to death or counter any of his harras attempts: depending on what he opts for.
It can also work for TC if you a certain your ennemy will creep since you can get a fast lvl 3.
And with Sh and Hex creeping should go really well. I really wouldnt say that this map favors FS more than other maps do.

the map pretty much sux, 2 few green camps, red is pretty weak for red, hu can still fast expo, only its slightly harder with these creeps, and one of the orange creeps has a centaur, with searing arrows!?, wtf

Thumbs down. Blizzard needs to drop the crack pipe.

Well... All the orange creep spots except the expansions have centaurs with searing arrows and centaur sorceresses with bloodlust... GG :tomcat: :sniper:

Actually there arent Impalers with Searing arrows at evry Orange creep spot... they only exist at the 4 Orange Creepspots closest to starting locations.

I thumbs up this map cause it wrks well for my strat,
<--orc playah
A) it makes my opponent struggle to creep, and either causes him to lose many units or have many units on low HP
B) all i do is harass so creeps dont have nuffin on me, when i get to about tier 2/3 that would be the only time id creep, and by then i dont find the creeps hard at all

I think the map kind of sux.
Too big for solo and the mercenary abuse is going to be ugly once someone figures it out. Healing wards at tier 1 is powerful.
But on the other hand I just creeped using an AOW + wisps to tank and fast expoed.
The map is so big and tight I easily defended so as NE a fast expo might be a good way to get some easy wins on that map.

I understand why Blizzard is changing the maps every now and then but boring maps to play like WW and Ice Forge, come on. Ok it is not as worse as Islands and that map in which you were situated up a cliff, but still...

I like it, it's got interesting expo locations, and I really like that shops are way in the corners. If you want to mass up heal/defense scrolls, you're got to go get them.
If the creeps are too hard, either use a delayed hero build for more units when you go creep, or start harassing. It's really not bad though, 2 wolves/FS/grunt can easily creep that green camp right away, then I can get a leg up on my opponent.
There's no way I'd thumb it down though, not when LT, Gnoll, and Ice Forge are still on there.

the 2 green creeps are nearly as strong as the orange creep right next to your base...

Plz dont make a fool of yourself...the orange creepcamp is more than twice as strong...

I like the map. It's easy to defend your base with the right base build and it's a good map for harrass. Taverns really help against Orc as NE too. The only thing I don't like about the map are the creeps. Especially the orange creeps. Even with a DH it's tough to creep those sometimes.
