I frequent the Bnet forums, and according to Bwhittle, a Blizzard rep,

"The stats TC posted were for top players. In 1.15, Human was slightly overpowered in games between top players.

Stats also show us that Human is the hardest race to learn. Even though, humans have a difficult learning curve, those top players who manage to learn humans can still compete against the other top players. "

When asked about which race had the easiest learning curve the response was
"With 1.15 that was undead, but its hard to know how much of that was a result of destroyers "

Several weeks back TCadwell, the person leading the balance team, mentioned that

"Human has an advantage vs everyone but Undead.

Undead has a larger advantage vs everyone except NE, who actually beat them at high levels"

So yeah....the recent nerfs to UD were very justified.

I am curious how they determined the learning curve. Sounds like they were just taking a survey of how much is played of each race. Fewer top human players therefore the learning curve for human is harder for ex. That really is not accurate with what they are referring to as the learning curve.

they look at win/loss statistics are low, mid, high levels
I doubt very much they use something as primitive as a survey

still. Lots of high level UD players doesn't mean the learning curve for UD is ez. It just means there are more ppl who play UD than other races, whatever that reason might be. And since there are more UD players than any other race, statistically you would expect more UD to be at the top. Fewer ppl player humans, so naturally fewer humans at the top. Does that make sense??

ok, if I didn't make this clear enough the first time
they didn't take a survey of the ladder and see which race had the most players and from that determine difficulty/imbalance/learning curve
In fact blizzard has specifically stated that they ignore race popularity when considering balance.

It doesn't matter if there are more undead players at the top than humans, what matters is if undeads at the top win more than 50% of their games against equally skilled humans-as it turns out, they do, significantly more.
