i think a cool idea for in a later patch would adventure skills. these would be skills that help people travel ingame and open up areas. some ideas could include sailing, rock/mountain climing, maybe others depending on what's needed.
sailing would be good because people could either rent out or buy their own small ships. ships could have a max occupancy, and you could buy sailing route charts which would open up new areas. it would also allow players to go to and from one continent to the other w/out using the big public transport ships at higher levels. also, in guilds money could be chipped in for large guild owned ships for raids and whatnot.
rock climing would be good for getting up mountains. unfortunately this would be hard to implement now, but areas could be added where dungeon entrances are located at the tops of peaks and whatnot. routes would have a varying difficulty and you'd upgrade like any other skill. you could probably 'lead' climbs to area for your party also.
i think these would have to be later game stuff tho, costing a high amount of gold or skill. meh, just an idea.
