this is for alliance, since i didnt play much horde in the closed beta.
since the open beta is coming people will prolly be coming here, asking where they can go at what level, so here are a few tips for you guys:

first, the level ranges of the zones:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/regionlevels.shtml

okay, now my personal favorite order, which i came up with after playing a rogue, priest and paladin to lvls 35+ (my pally is lvl 51 right now)

this is specifically for human, but only few changes need to be made in the beginning if you wanna be dwarf or gnome. if you wanna be night elf... well, i cant help ya there =/

anyways, here is the order i went:

Northshire valley (newb zone)
Elywn Forest (lvl1-10)
do both those zones completly. do all the quests there and you should be lvl 10 before heading to westfall (10-20)

there is a big jump here, at one moment you are fighting lvl 9-11 mobs, then it jumps to 14. the best thing to do is the first few quests in westfall, then head to Loch Modan (10-20), near Ironforge. You should be lvl 12 by the time you head there, making the zone somewhat easier, after doing everything there, go back and finish Westfall, the place will be a piece of cake.

Also, before heading into the deadmines, make sure all the people in your party are at least lvl 20, otherwise Mr.Smite (no, i am not giving away who he is) will make meatloaf out of you.

After Westfall, go to Redridge Mountains (15-25), do all quests that arent too hard, and then head to the Wetlands (20-30), and do all the quests there, then heading back and finishing up in redridge.

Pretty much, over lapping the beginning zones will make questing a whole lot easier, and faster. Of course, if you prefer to group, you wont have that much trouble. However, grouping all the time will make you get less experiance and make your character weaker in the long run.

After finishing there, the same overlapping routine can be used for duskwood(18-30), and the Hillsbrad Foothills (20-30) there isnt all that much to do in hillsbrad though, so you will spend alot of the time in duskwood.

After those two, comes the interesting part of the game, where much more room is opened up.
places where there are interesting quests for alliance in the 30-40 level ranges are:
Stranglethorn Vale (30-45)
Alterac Mountains (30-40)
Arthai Highlands (30-40)

there are also a few in desolace, but that place is so far away, and the quests are just boring, i recommend not going there.

i think that will give every one of you guys in the open beta a good start. enjoy!

p.s. places alliance players should stay away from to spare you from boredom:
Thousand needles
Swamp of sorrow
Dustwallow Marsh

That sounds pretty solid, I went to redridge alot earlier than you did as there were a few quests that didn't really involve killing too much and were fairly easy. (swimming quests, get the beer from around the world, get help from other cities) And for deadmines I think you could go at 18 if you have the right group and communication. (warrior/mage/priest are a must at that level)

I've done everything in Northshire/Goldshire, as well as those few quests just east of Ironforge (the steelgrill depot ones and the farm thing). I'm completely lost now as I unno how to get to Westfall. What's the easiest path from either Stormwind or Ironforge?
