Tomorrow the selling of wow supposedly starts in Europe. But I cannot help but notice from the whines on this forum, that the in-game economy is very badly screwed up. So I will probably pass up the opportunity to start playing untill that is corrected (and hopefully this wont be indefinetely). Gimme a call when things have been amended!

How is the economy fucked up? If you want plenty of gold go Skinning/Mining, I had 5 times the money compared to my friends on equal levels in both betas.

crafting professions suck

you get better from quests/instances, period.

at this point in the game for the U.S, it is nearly impossible to make money on crafting anymore. because the majority of the people who started at launch are in the 40's and 50's, even the dumb ones know that instances get u better items.

the only way to make real money right now, is to go with 1 gathering profession and enchanting. enchanting you can go with 2 routes, 1 is to actually get ur enchanting high and get formulas and stuff and do the business. OR u can just disenchant the stuff you find and sell teh materials to enchanters.

now, with new servers, it is still possible to make money by getting your skills up quickly with guild support to sell the stuff you make. but if you are not that hardcore and go with a more normal pace, you wont get a penny.

I dont understand why people say the crafting professions suck. Take tailoring, just the other day I made a red shirt for myself. Yep, a red shirt. Be in awe.

mining/skinning ftw

PS: once you get your crafting profession up to 300 (or the high levels at least), you can make awesome stuff that really can only be replaced by raid boss drops

Trap, I'm sure a guy like you can have more fun with the economy than anyone else. I price-fixed my way to a mount and I bet you can do far, far more.

Nothing a bit of expansionary monetary policy cannot fix.

i think tailoring is the best crafting profession...most of my leatherworking stuff isnt too great, or if they are, it takes me forever to get the materials. my only other options are to buy from the AH, at prices that end up going much higher than the maxmium i can set the price on my crafted item if i wish to sell it.

the most profit ive made from leathworking was about 40s. it cost 1g for materials, then i had to sell it and 1g40s or so, and even then it was a stretch....

mite as well farm for money, or go thru instances for items.

The Deviate Scale set around lev 25 (you need to farm Wailing Caverns for scales tho) and some blue gloves are by far the best items for those levels within leather, at least for rogues :)

The deviate scale stuff is so not worth it unless your whole guild funnels scales to you. And the cloak looks like crap.

Ya but my friend was the only leatherworker in our guild with those recipes so we did funnel scales at him :p:

Tailoring is hot shit. I spend a million gold on threads every day making bags for everyone in my guild, then another half million mailing them all off.

Not to mention tailoring doesn't give any skill for any linen/wool you make after 125-150 skill, even though you've only just started picking up wool. =[

Aside from that, making mad shirts is pretty win.

i cant 100% gree, saw an armor smith recipe today that was l ike 600 d or something, BUT had like 5% chance to dodge or parry or something like that, looked pretty awsome. (was purple item)

There is no demand in AH for crafted items, I made feathered breastplate and tried to sell for 5g (the mats alone cost 4g), and no one is buying.

Yeah, the epic crafted items are amazing, but many take 1000g+ to make.

They're best on bigger servers where there's more likely to be a rich high level willing to pay a lot for them.

Some things in crafting are worth wile from my experience, such as mithiril spikes (grants 16-20 dmg per hit on a sheild) now this is the best spike on my server, and it costs me about 1.5g to make pushing 2g. However i sell it for 3-5g! This is because it requires rare plans, but the profit is endless, lv 60 players come to me all the time, many returning customers and all. I know of noone else that can make these though, and i see the same 2 people posting spikes at ah. One day i sold 8 spikes! thats atleast 8g profit from me doing nothing. I am now at 258 smithing and im still getting points from it too:). Other things such as spurs sell well too. There are probably items like this for every class that if you find, you will make good money. There is also one 2h axe that i can make when im maxed out. It is great untill you can find a way to find an epic+ :).
Another note to add are my weapon smith items sell mroe than the mats, ranging from 5-20g more than the mats. I find that with good buys and some farming you can make big dollars with any crafting profession.
