So I just started.
And I've been selling off my raw copper ore without smelting it,
And just realized it was probably an error.
So smelting lvls up your mining.
Does it cost you anything at all to smelt?
Do the bars sell?
Do they sell for more than the ore?
I might need to start over and do mining right. :(

you dont have to smelt them but they sell for more and if u take engineering/blacksmithing you use them to make stuff which sell for even more

And exactly what do you make with engineering or even blacksmithing that will sell for more? Selling the bars will almost always net you more cash.

Many people when they go to the AH they want to be efficient, they want to spend little time there sell what they need and get back out fighting. So people want to buy large quantanties fast, bars are 20 a stack, ore is 10. Another thing is saving them smelting time, i would always buy 20 bars for 1g then 20 ore for the same price. The last thing, when people go to the AH they type what they want, if bars is what they want they type 'x bar' (x being the mat) so they dont get a bagillion other things such as tubes and rods. Overall, you will sell smelted goods for more, sell them faster and make more people happy:) so please smelt ^^

Yeah well I'm a nooby now. I started a couple days ago.
So you'll have to excuse the fact that I'm going to be asking nooby questions. =)
I now see that I must indeed smelt.
So what is a good balance between copper bars you sell in the AH,
And copper bars you save for bronze?

On the server I'm on I find that it's not worth smelting to bronze and better just to sell the Tin and Copper seperately unless using the Bronze to produce something. This's because Tin is usually just the gap between Copper and Iron and just used to lvl up mining to Iron asap.

You don't need Bronze to lvl up?

IIRC Bronze is on the same lvl system as Tin Bars so it's better to just smelt the Tin ore into Tin bars and sell them as Tin bars rather than further smelting them to Bronze, unless you must have iron for some reason very fast rather than making a bit of extra money on the way.

Right but you can smelt the copper, smelt the tin, and then get additional exp for smelting the bronze.
I guess I was just asking how necessary that additional exp is.
I mean it seems like getting to Iron ASAP is pretty important.

Yes, save the copper to make bronze. Tin NEVER sells in the AH (well, it sometimes does, but not for more than 15s a stack), and bronze will net you quite a bit more than copper.
BTW, silver and gold also NEVER sell. might as well vendor them.

On my server, (slune) copper can hit 80s a stack! once in a wile (46 warrior) will walk buy some copper veins mine and sell em by the stack. I do the same with iron and many stones (because i do not use them) I save all that i can and will use (goes with gems) and sell all that i am done with to make some extra G.

50s on mine, and I thought that was inflated.
In fact I still do.
AH economy is just silly.

AH encon is silly... I dont think that mats should be able to sell so high, a cap should be placed or something, the MATS will be bought only by alts that want to power level and hit it high. I just dont think buying mats from the AH is good for average player. Another thing, getting some uncommon mats such as gems and elementals (EX breath of wind) cost way more than they should. breath can top 7g each. I dont think that things should hit so high, gives most people no use of AH. Personally I do not use AH much anymore, I must save hundreds of gold to buy a good item. And i do not want to buy uncommons anymore because its a waste at 40+. Sorry bout the off topic disc.
