what would be a good gathering profession to make money. i alrdy have enchanting and skinning...but i am wondering if mining would be better to make money with? is there anything from skinning to sell at the AH?

I think mining would be pretty nice. Almost everything you mine is sellable (exceptions are Silver, Gold, and Tin). The occasional rare stones you get are a plus too.

Mining rakes in the money even if you are 10-. One of my chars who is lvl 13 has 5g already by selling stacks of 20 copper bars for 40-50s a piece( not including all the gear I bought). I would drop the enchanting and take mining. Unless you already have a high lvl char to buy items from the auction house for you, or you have some guild mates who are willing to spend time in instances to give u all the blue/green items.

You obviously havent seen the prices for some enchanting materials. Late game Enchanting brings in far more money then skinning.

True, but if you just started playing and don't have friends to help, enchanting hurts more than helps at the lower lvls. Maybe go mining/skining until you are able to solo an instance. Then go mining/enchanting?

Yeah, that's what I was planning... until I saw my friend who has no guild and only 3 friends online regularily got almost 90g levels 37-40.
Ofc I dont know how many mats he had saved up.

ENchanting/engineering seems like it would be a huge money drainer, so if you dont mind being broke all the time, go for it!

heres the deal. enchanting is gonna own ur money supply as u will have to disenchant green items that u would normally sell. so pretty much it sucks for making money till level 40 to become artisan. thats when the enchants get to be good enough that u would want to trade them. as for the second profession. i would suggest either mining or skinning but first look at the AH and see which one has more value on your server. in most servers mining is more of a money maker than skinning. but its up 2 u. i hope this helps, gl.

actually I picked enchanting/mining because of this very reason. mining gives me the "quick money" and enchanting is a profession you have a long long time new things to learn. I'm 230 in enchanting atm and I don't get anything from it, I rather put still something into it. Maybe I'm on a more popular realm as you guys, but the competition pushes the gains of enchants to under zero. and when you want to get new recipes and don't have a ton of luck you gonna pay a crapload of gold just for crusader/demonslaying/icy chill/9 int or something like that, long time before that gains money, since there are always other guys willing to offer it for a price that barely earns them anything.

Honestly: Disenchanting is a much better profession than enchanting.

My level 11 mage had 32 silver and around 40 copper , whn e i took up enchanting and tailoring, now i have 7 silver and 29 bronze... i got that 7 silver by a friend so enchanting basically leaves u bankrupt so try not So if u really wanna go enchanting the best idea would be to start off with moneymaking professions like herbalism and mining and the realearn enchanting.

i think enchanting and tailoring are a good combo. Since fairly early in tailoring you can learn to make green items. So i just disenchant those. Makes it alot easyer. And tailoring allows you to make your own bags, so thats a plus.
Enchanting/Tailoring is an awesome combo if you ask me. I'm on 100 tailoring and 100 enchanting so far and I have only spent 8s on both put together (And that was only because i saw 20 linen going for 8s which is rare).
