As requested, I've done an audio on the NE-HU match up using a new stratergy, which has been used by a few top players and so I tried it out myself.

So, if you're haveing troubles with the typical NE player who goes DH, Naga, bear tech, heres something new that might be worth trying.

Enjoy:

nj stig. Mortars are really underused imo. Frag. shards makes them really amazing units. Since they're siege can now own normal armor. Id suspect itd be good in hu mirror with all those breakers flying around.

It is indeed. I will almost certainly have them on lost temple and sometimes I like to do a similar strat to the one in the audio in human mirror on smaller maps as well.

Pretty flawless game and nice AC. You could have crept the red starting spots, since with 3 heros, the additional xp would have been really nice.

The only main drawback is if the NE pushes during T2 with naga/archers and 1 bear. Your workshop was also in a bit of a dangerous position, since a) the NE would have seen it directly if he attacked your base and b) it could have been taken down relatively easily.

A good NE counter would have been chimeras, but he probably didn't know your unit mix soon enough.

Also, why don't you use shift-queuing for peasants building?

With this strat I try to make sure I'm actually harassing the NE during tier3 tech as Sunhine does, even if I end up losing all my footman, just to keep him occupied like he does at the start of the game on me.

If the NE went chimeras I can EASILY counter them with hawks and/or flying machines since I already have a workshop and with the tier3 flak cannon upgrade, they'd rape the chims.

I do use shift-queuing in a lot of situations. In which particularly situation were you referring to?

Pretty sure he was talking about shift-queueing your peasants back to lumber harvesting after building a farm/workshop/sanctum etc. A couple of times in the game you had peasants that would finish a building and then stand there for a short while "admiring their work." :) I assumed that you were distracted by something else at the moment and just forgot to shift-click them back to wood.

Ahh yes, actually this is a little silly habbit of mine. I like to perposely leave one idle peasant in my base during the game since with human you have to build so many god damn farms, I find it easier leaving one idle right where I build my farms so I just double click the idle peasant icon on the screen which firstly selects the peasants and takes me to the exact point on the screen when i want to build the farm, so then I just do "b, f" and place it then double tap 1 to get back to my army. Since as I said, humans have to build so many farms, it's someties necessary even to do this in a fight, so this is the quickest way to do it I find.

Maybe it sux I don't know, as I said, a silly habbit of mine :p

Makes sense...having the idle peasant icon pop up on the screen is a good reminder that it's probably time to build another farm. :)

As for the speed thing, I think if you have your lumber peasants hotkey'd (I usually put mine in control group 5) I'm pretty sure you can just double tap 5 (to center the screen on your lumber peasants/base) and then hit b, f and click the farm into place. At this point, one of your lumber peasants will go and build the farm. Probably about the same speed as your method, but if you already hotkey your peasants, then maybe that will give you another option.

AH thats quite a nice alternative although currently I don't hotkey peasants, no. I don't tend to hotkey further than number than 5, gets too awkward I find.

I should maybe also work on using F keys more and hotkeys for shops and invenntory items. I still do lots of noob stuff despite playing at a pretty desent standard :D

Wow, nice audio and nice strategy! I gotta try this since NE is currently my worst matchup. Maybe add 2 initiate sorceresses just for slow? His dryads will be kept at a low number anyway due to mortars.

Another thing i noticed is that knights tend to recieve some AoE damage over time from your own mortars, so buying one scroll of healing for a decisive battle would help a lot--i noticed in the final battle most of the damage your units got was spread out.

Good job xD

Mm, the knights shouldn't take much dammage from mortor if you make sure your motor are focusing on his dryads which sit further back. As for the sorcs, yes it would be nice but you will find if you make sorcs you will lack the priests which are required for the stratergy.

Of course, if the game drags on a bit and you don't lose many priests during fights, making a couple of sorcs would be good indeed but just insure you have enough priests to cast innefire enough. Something I thought of myself was if I did have a lot of priests, i could have half autocasting innefire and half autocasting heal, that would be really nice.
