Hi everyone, this is the first time I've done an AC and its mainly done for a bit of fun. Having said that means that I know I did mumble a couple of times during it but I tried my best to create an AC that people will find not only informative, but also entertaining. So, heres a list of small thing to not flame me on because, yes, I already know :D

- Siphon Mana will siphon to friendly units at twice the rate that it siphons from enemy units.
- My opponent did not purchase boots of speed at the point I said he did, they were from earlier.
- I did mumble once or twice.
- My micro... My only defense is that I was distracted, and it only shows how effective this strat is that I won with a couple of glaring micro mistakes.

There are 2 replays included, the extra one is to further demonstrate the possibilitys of this human approach (Strat if you must call it that). The replay the AC is done on is the "Cool MK-BM Ladder" replay file.

The approach is based around the MK. Ever since watching Stigs AC about the 'KM, killing machine' :bash: I have been experimenting with the MK. The problem with the MK is twofold; firstly, his low creeping ability in the early stages of the game, and secondly, his mana intensive abilitys that he needs mana support for.

In the AC replay I combat these weaknesses by using the map to my advantage as well as getting a Blood Mage second. This not only compensates for his two weaknesses but it actually enhances his strengths in mid-game play. Unfortunately the game did not go long enough to demonstrate how powerful a lvl6+ MK is with mana support, but I think you will get the gist of it from the replay.

So, having said all of that, please download and enjoy.

Oh yeah, please leave me feedback, even if its just that you liked/didnt like it or your opinion on this approach. I don't mind discussing it :D

Well, done man. I really enjoyed this audio. It was informative, and I learned quite a bit from your strategy. Nice Job, and keep up the good work. IMO Mountain king owns am as well ^^ Also, you should have gotten dispell for your priests, woulda made your game much easier against the am.

Yeah true, cheers for the feedback. Nice to hear that its not a bad strat.

You know, for a human player I really hate using the AM, its just so predictable and boring...

Well nice job man,a couple compalaints for the quality but overall good work and interesting idea(well kinda thought that skipping blood mage and bying potts and circlets and vitality periapts for mk would be an interesting approach too).Id like to see some more from u.And dont sound so gloomy.Cheer up m8,get some drugs or have some sex before ac(well also a drunk commentator would be a nice idea)

Quality was too low? I'll try mucking around with the file format. WHat do other people think?

If you want an audio on solo MK use with him just using mana pots then you should check out Speiergs WC For Dummies #3. Thats a real nice AC about that.

Yeah I was kinda a bit nervous and I'll forward that sex part to my girlfriend. She may actually listen :naughty: . But she'll probably just spend another night kicking me in her sleep.

I could try a drunk AC, would be pretty funny but we'll see. May not be a good idea to promote that kind of thing to any underagers out there.

Thanks for the feedback. Nice to hear that you found it interesting. I've only been using this strat for about a week off and on now and I'm yet to use it to its full advantage. Things I'll do different next time is to give my MK at least a health pot, an invulnerability pot and maybe a sorc with invis too. I also have to try to banish before I bolt. The mirco get a bit intense trying to do all that so that you siphon in the MK's bolt cooldown and can banish quick enough as well as doing unit micro but I'll try really hard next time. :D

Hmmm, I could've sworn it was me that used the "MK backwards is KM, which stands for Killing Machine" line in my WC for Dummies #3 AC. :) But maybe Stig said it before I ever did. In any case, no big deal. Can't wait to see this audio and get someone else's take on this approach. DLing now. :)

Edit: Bummer, I got this message...Your file has expired.
Unfortunately your file has expired. A link is valid for 7 days or 25 downloads, whichever occurs first. Once the link expires, the file is automatically deleted and cannot be recovered.

Wow sorry man. I have a memory like a soup strainer, plus I tend to remember peoples names by the first letter of their name. Stupid brain! But nice call on MK being the KM. He so is, and he's way more fun than the AM, even if I only use the MK on EI these days :crybaby:

And I'll make a new link right now. I didn't think anyone was really interested in it. I cant even remember what I said, I hope its not garbage... No I'm pretty sure its alright, I do remember my micro being pretty poor tho so take pity on me, I still win, and you get the gist of it.

Thanks for new link too

St.Lang, google WinAce and download that program. It's just a compression utility like WinZip. Use it to open RAR files.

Mordox, I just watched the AC. I thought you did a nice job with the commentary. Here's some constructive feedback...

Your voice did sound slightly muffled. It wasn't a major problem, but I think that's probably what people were referring to when they mentioned quality problems. Could be your mic, the positioning of your mic, or the sample rate was too low. Experiment a bit and see if you can get a more clear, crisp sound of your voice.

You did well with the commentary. Some things that I have found to be very helpful when I'm making an AC are the following (you may have already done these, but take them for what they are worth):

- I usually watch the replay at 1 x speed several times while taking notes about specific things in the game that I want to discuss, whether they are strategy elements, player choices that are significant, micro maneuvers, etc.

- After compiling the notes, I select the most important things to highlight and I make a brief outline that I can keep in front of me while recording the AC...this helps me to stay on track and not forget the important points

- Then I usually do a dry-run of the actual AC...this means I watch the game and give a commentary on it without actually recording it. What this does is that it enables me to figure out if I can say what I want to say within the flow of the game as it is happening...sometimes I have a lot of comments for one particular part of a game and I find the need to have the audience pause the game for a few seconds so that I don't have to rush and gloss over something important.

- Once I think I have the overall flow of the commentary ready to go I think about how I want to introduce the game and how much time I need up front to set the scene, so to speak. You took the approach of starting the replay at 2 mins, but you used about 2 mins of time talking about the strat, and setting the scene, etc. before you unpaused the game. My personal preference is to get the game started ASAP and use the time while the players are building their bases, etc. to do the intro and set the scene and let the audience know the overall point that I am trying to illustrate during the AC. This is probably more of a personal preference than anything else, but I know that when I'm watching an AC, I want to get right into it and start the game. Even if I have to watch 2 mins of base build, I'd rather watch that while listening to the intro then listen to just the intro and then start the game at the 2 min mark. I hope that made some sense.

- Oh yeah, another thing that is good to do I have found, is to also watch the replay from the opposing point of view once or twice. This will often give you a more well-rounded perspective on the game overall before you do your AC.

I realize that all of this means that doing an AC takes quite a bit more time than just sitting down and getting right into recording the commentary. Perhaps I'm too perfectionistic. I have found that using the steps above has made my AC's quite a bit better than the first couple that I did when I was just learning how to do these things (as I still am).

Anyhoo, I hope that was helpful in some way. And if you ever play on Azeroth, let me know. Maybe we can get in some practice matches.
