SKYflyer

so, i was looking at my photoshop tips and tricks file and i decide to learn how to create smoke like they show you in their tutorial thingy. I can create the smoke, but i cannot figure out how to add the smoke to another picture like they say in step number 7. You can see step seven in the attatchment, and you can also (hopefully) explain in more detail then the tutorial did (for n00bs like me) how to insert the smoke that i created into an existing picture.
Thanks

The easiest way would be to flatten the smoke image once you have it all set up, select all, copy, open up the destination image and paste (setting the new layer that appears to Overlay and whatever else they say).

We scored him at the Maelstrom. :)
To answer your question, I think there's actually an "Export Layer to.." something or other option that actually lets you transfer it to another project. I think it's under File > [something]. Haha, if I had Photoshop open, I could tell you. Just do a little investigating.

do what aremah said, except maybe make it "Lighten" or "Linear Dodge". overlay kinda burns the colors or something a little i think.. im not sure exactly what it does.. but i know that Lighten and Linear Dodge will filter out the black. "Screen" will do the same thing too i guess.. i dont know the difference between Lighten and Screen :p:

It comes with Photoshop CS, but it's probably all over the net by now.

Just set the layer style to Linear Dodge, that *should* do the trick ;)
