well about 12 levels ago or so i decided to drop my professions and get skin/lw instead. skinning was easy to level; i'm 300 now at lv 51 after spending about 2-3 afternoons skinning and then just the normal mobs my level. but the problem is leatherworking. i'm currently 215 or something in LW so i'm fairly high but not high enough to make anything worth wearing at my level (51). so the question is this: do i keep going with lw and try to go for 300, committing to farming instances for rare/epic patterns on the off chance that i should win one and then acquire the components to make it, or just stop LW altogether and just sell my current stock of skins (around 400 pieces)? i've been thinking about this for some time and i plan on wearing wildheart and the superior PvP armor sets, so i don't plan on actually using any lw made stuff. yes, there are some good pieces (cloaks and gauntlets mostly) but i'm just not sure if it's worth it. i've already put a few gold into lw to level it to the point it is now but i just don't know if it's worth it to keep going. what do you think?

LW is disappointing. The good items are just too few at higher levels and to make it worse Blizzard only allows you to amke a third of them due to specialization (tribal, elemental, dragonscale).

If you really like feral forms, you might want to stick with it to get the warbear stuff from the Timbermaw, but chances are someone you know has those patterns already.

I suggest you wait until the Darkmoon Fair rolls around. There is a very nice epic neck (for feral) you can get from turning in many many rugged armor kits.

lw actually isnt bad later, considering that levelling it up is easy since its supported by pretty much the easiest gathering proffession in the game. however, as far as equipment, the only good ones are devilsaur, stormshroud (iffy) and not much else. o yea and helm of fire, but by the time ur 60 thats pretty obsolete...well actually not really, but its not worth the investment. unless ur selling.

bah i just don't know anymore =[ but i need to either use the leather or sell it soon, it's taking up too much of my inventory and bank slots ~_~

some items will make u more money if u make them then sell them rather than just sell the leather; however, these are mostly just the blue items, which are rather high levelled in skill

i decided to go with leatherworker so i can make the rugged/core armor kits and there's some alright feral stuff you can make too...so we'll see how this goes.

true, and those rugged armor kits and the core leather kits look nice for the time being :) and like i said, there are a few good recipes...but it'll involve alot of farming. when i hit 60 i see myself farming BG/AV alot more instead of instances (aside from getting maybe a few BoP weps/trinkets etc from the end game instances). i would like a full wildheart set but i just donno if the interest in farming instances like that is gonna be there.

I'm seriously ranking in golds with leatherworking, I just love it and another reason why I took it up so I can support my guilds that wear leathers.

I'd say no! Smartass me had Skinning/Herbalism, but I wanted to try LW for "fun". REAL fun, I tell you >_<

Seriously, gathering professions for the win. Skinning/mining might be the best. Disenchanting also seems to bring up some money for my little brother. He disenchants stuff from his Tailoring and greenies that drop and sell the stuff at AH.

I find that deviate scale belt rank in the most money and quite simple to gather up materials.

100g is the standard on my server for it.

Pretty much perfect for twink at 19.

Plus I'm alliance, and not a lot of alliance bothered to get the recipe or grind for materials since it time consuming.

He's saying some higher end leatherworking recipes only drop in specific instances and he's not that interested in running those instances over and over to get them.

i chose dragonscale =/ mats r so expensive to get for black dragonscale sets (boots mats cost 300+g and recipe is imba to get) but i can sell them for quite alot money
