How can EvenStar not getting trough be shocking? With all due respect, he was last of his MWL group and hasnt had a good result in ages (aside from breaking Moon's winning streak in a showtournament).

Think $1 is about 1000 won (usually $1 ~ 1000-1050 won, depending on the daily exchange rate, but 1000 is an easy estimate to work with), so he is aiming for $100k, and he currently has $75k. Not bad at all.

EDIT: Actually, this gives some insight into how LOW (yes, low) the pro-gamer salary is, at least for WC players. Considering Moon won WEG1, WEG2, PL5, MWL, and CKCG this year, he only has $75k. I believe WEG1, WEG2, PL5, and MWL has prizes of about $15k for winning them (I may be wrong). If that is true, it would account for $60k of his $75k salary. Also, CKCG must have at least a few thousand prize money for the winner. So he actually makes a very small yearly salary for being a pro-gamer. I wonder if he accounted for his new sponsorship in this figure. Now how many other players can win 5 big tournaments like Moon and secure a sponsorship from one of the biggest pro-gaming sponsors in the world? The other guys are not making much at all.

Thanks.

And I was just wondering, does Moon winning this even dispute the claims by Grubby fanboys that Moon a) Can't win outside Korea, and b) Can't win unless he knows his map and opponent a week beforehand?

I guess the claim will now have to be 'Moon can't beat non-Koreans outside Korea!'?

Jupe

I am wondering if there is any coverage of the 2on2 event. Because 2 guys have been participating in that event and got 2nd, but I would like to know who they played and maybe download some replays.
I hope someone got some information.

2v2 event? I was unaware that that CKCG was holding one, if they were then there has been zero coverage :(. I know IGE just held a 2v2 event using many players that are at CKCG, along with some that are not. Those replays are up on replays.net.

WTF. My brain hurts

If you look back on the 'Who is the best player in the world?' thread here from a few weeks back, you'll notice that the reasons given for why Moon could not possibly be considered the best player in the world were that all of his wins have come inside Korea, using Korean custom maps, and the Korean format of knowing your map and opponent a week beforehand.

Since none of those things apply to CKCG, and Grubby fanboys could never accept Moon as being the best in the world, the new excuse for why Moon is worse than Grubby will be that he has yet to beat the top non-Korean players in a tournament outside Korea (since he's beaten the likes of Grubby, ToD, Fury, Shortround etc inside Korea, and he's dominated Koreans both at home and now abroad).

Maybe he means making 100k prizemoney, since there are probaly loads of small unpublished tourneys with some prices and WEG I prizemoney was $20.000 and WEG II even more but I dont know for sure.

lol. 2 countries isn’t what most would deem "International"

wow... so he played how many people he’s not used to playing all the time? 1 or 2? Yeah your right, total vindication :P

Untill he wins the worldcup of wc3 (WCG) he will still only be 2nd best.

I think the eagles are prolly a better and more skilled team (Besides coaching) than the Patriots. but the patriots won, and because they won they are the BEST.

grubby could have lost everysingle tourney he enetered after he won wcg and he would still have the title of CHAMP.

RedMyst

WCG is the worldcup of WC3? Are you kidding me? Look at the people Grubby had to face in WCG 2004 compared to the people Moon faces in every single tournament he enters and you see how stupid your statement is. The freakin Korean WCG qualis have higher quality players than the actual tournament.

nightfall-

yeah qualifying for wcg in korea is harder than the actual wcg tourney

GummyBear
09-03-2005, 01:39 PM
look at when grubby went to korea. i think that shows he wasn't cut for it at all. he didn't get past the first stage for any of the tourny i believe? maybe now it would be diff but to say that grubby is better then moon can be said to be a joke. grubby's accomplishments look like paper work compared to moon's.

WCG is child's play? Lol, so funny. And if Korean WCG qualifier is so much better, and the players are so much more advanced than the rest of the world, why didn't any Koreans win last year...?

WEG = rs.shore and Wizard were in the top 16. No offense to these two guys, but period.

Lycan
09-06-2005, 05:26 AM
hmmm this discussion is getting really old, both are great players and there is no best player. only a best player on a given day. moon can lose from sweet and grubby from fov or lucifer. and there are many more. the skilllevel is so high that the smallest mistakes can decide a game.

WCG IS child's play compared to WEG/MWL/korea qualis for either of those + korea qualis for WCG/ESWC. Because king.al, the two best koreans were pitted against each other early on in the tournament. It was widely known around then that zacard's "weak" matchup was vs orc, thus he was able to beat Moon and lost to Grubby.
