Where are some good places to farm arcane crystals now? silithus used to be good,but the new quests have gankers everywhere. I can find a vein in EPL every once in a while. Any other places where RTV's spawn that anyone can recommend?

In Dire Maul. Winterspring. Any 55+ area will have several veins, 1 or 2 in 50-55 areas.

Whats the respawn on Rich veins? Should I be looking deep in the mountains? I have the gatherer mod, so I regularly search for the spots I know that they spawn

It's about rich thorium veins, which you can mine if you have high-level mining skill. in addition to thorium, they also sometimes contain gems and arcane crystals.

I have seen rich thorium veins in "large" numbers in afew places:

-The fungal vale in the Eastern Plaguelands seems to have quite afew, with quick respawns (Back when I was a paladin I farmed them there, with pretty good results.)

-Winterspring, especially in Darkwhisper Gorge (although you will have to be careful while avoiding the mobs there, you can't take them alone.)

-There are always some in the Burning Stepps, and the zone is rather small compared to others, you might wanna check that place out too.

I've found a few in EPL, just found like 3 veins in winterspring, but a priest feared me into the mobs in the gorge :-(

or get gatherer. its a mod where you mine a vein or get a herb etc and it records where you found it and how many ores u got from it. i had to upload this myself on filefront lol :P. i dont remember what site i got it on :( lol.

Yeah I have gatherer, it came with ctmod I think. I just don't have many rich thorium veins on it lol. btw : does more mining skill increase your chance at an arcane crystal dropping from the node? I heard someone mention it on the wow forums. IE, +5 enchant to gloves and/or goblin mining helmet

I don't think it increases the chance. People like to believe it does, but there's no evidence to support it.

Blizzard has spoken about that before. The content of any mine or herb is pre-determinded the moment it spawns. They changed it to this way after they took out Gemology and some other skills in closed beta.

So basically all the hard-core farmers know where the veins with the crystals spawn maybe? I've mined 15 - 20 rich veins with nothing but thorium and dense stones :-(

The veins are random. There's no particular spawn spot that will have more arcane crystals.

Keep in mind the arcane crystals are quite rare. I've mined hundreds of Thorium on my warrior and never found a single one - overall it's easier to just farm for gold and guy them in the AH.
