Real Matches

What does a typicall league team compose of (hero wise) and what are the roles of the players. Im sure it is totally different from the public games I play, and I'm curious.

Most heroes that get picked in league matches are Lich, Enigma, Earthshaker,... mostly AoE heroes .. Also a very different aspect of these games to public ones is the great utilization of observer wards. Most just farm and try not to get ganked while trying to deny others from farming. From there on out it's just good team work.

It's mostly composed of AoE heroes and disablers with one pure damage output hero for late game. Here's a list of the most common choices.

Some of these heroes are used much more often than others but you can not just throw a team together based on the heroes listed here. The most imporant aspect of picking a team is synergy with the other heroes abilities. For instance, it's become fairly standard and effective to have Earthshaker and Luna on a team for echoslam to kill all the creep waves and soften up heroes and Luna to finish off the heroes with eclipse to the face.
