All this gear talk reminds me of my favorite podcast where they talk about music, felines, and microphones all the time (and review their favorite mics too). The mic I bought is the one the co-host uses (not the sm57).

I'm confused because I thought you had a dynamic mic which picks up less background noise. But gl anyhow.

Well in the last resort, you could get a laptop and record in a car. It's better than recording in a busy stairwell (which sounds hilariously bad if you've ever tried it). Or just record anyway?
