Questions about sponsors ect...

With Starcraft 2 on the horizon(Yeah right.) I've been wondering how

sponsors such as Advanced Micro Devices(AMD.) and Intel support pro gamers.

For instance how do they profit from having pro gamers on their payroll or is it

something like a charity thing where you give money and its tax deductible ect.

It's a very cost-effective form of advertisement for them. Direct access to a huge niche of their target market, with the icons of that market supporting their products.
