Heroes (and to a lesser extent other units) should have distinct AI personalities. I mean not just the things they say, but the things they do (activated by a command, of course).

For instance, a fast melee fighter like the Blademaster or Demon Hunter should have a deluxe pathing algorithm that lets them predict where other units will be based upon their movement patterns, so that they can thread their way through them much better than other units. (If this was implemented well enough, in a lot of situations you wouldn't even NEED zero collision size on Windwalk.) Heroes with auras as important skills should try to keep themselves in a position to cover as many units as possible with their auras. Heroes with a ranged slowing ability like the Naga Sea Witch should have a kiting command.

This would not be to take away all of the micro in the game -- most of these advanced AI abilities would not be on most units. You would still have to do all of these things manually with most units. But putting select AI abilities on the heroes for which it makes the most sense conceptually would certainly add flavor.

Just do wc4 like wc3.
Dont balance
Dont use shadowmeld on heroes.
that would kill Wc4, you can do a lot of changes to balance the game, in the end the game gonna be pretty imbalanced.

Sounds like OP is trying to take out all of the variance and micro abilities from game... if you didnt have a purge or ensnare or types of stun undead would run all over people considering how fast their units are... so would nelf lol

Nothing should really be removed but things maybe added... I would like to see evolving gameplay instead of just set tiers... I wanna see an RTS where as time goes on your units and tiers and whatnot evolve... My main problem with War3 is say hey i expo'd and i have 8 foots now they are all completely useless when im mid tier 2 and 3...

Kind of like the berserker upgrade and statue morphing I would like to see all units have some sort of way to upgrade into another unit... Maybe running your footmen into your barracks at t3 for a 125 gold cost morphs him into a knight? It would cost a little more than just building a knight but its better than killing your foot just to make a knight lol

I'd also like to see maybe alternate tiers? Like in sc2 you can upgrade different addons to buildings... What if you could upgrade (as human for example) a different kind of castle that looked more elfish.. and would give all your casters a slight buff? I'd just like to see a TON of customization because in warcraft 3 currently mirror matches are very stale...

I don't consider ensnare to be a "micro ability" at all. I consider it a no skill ability. A fiend is trapped in a net for 12 seconds of course it is going to die and there is really no way around it except to TP out and waste 350g.

The things you said about UD/NE owning would happen if you made that change to WarCraft 3... Obviously if you were to do it in a new game there might not be unholy aura or huntresses that run that fast. So of course a new game would be adjusted accordingly.

cant remove skills, just nerf and add new things! What if net was only 4 seconds? I dont think that would be such a big deal ;p

I just think it is just incredibly lame to have an opponent use an "oh well nothing you can do to stop it or avoid it or recover from it" ability such as ensnare, hex, bolt.

It'd be nice if retarded bnet didn't have humongous delay. Then you could actually "avoid" or dodge projectiles with proper burrow micro. Then again hex should be a projectile too.

Burrow is far too slow of a skill to dodge that stuff, even under perfect conditions with the fastest possible reaction time.

Then make it near instant like Zerg burrow.

But how about assigning levels and different counters (instead of a generic all-or-nothing dispel) to these things? Then you could counter these things to some extent, but the counters would take some work and cost (and micro to use), and your opponent could also keep going in the arms race, or branch off to something else so that if you don't scout right, you end up with the counter to the wrong thing.

Building on that, what if you brought back the Stables (of WarCraft II fame) for Human, but instead of just satisfying a tech requirement, it works like a Merc building except that you own it, and there you buy horses that you put heroes and some ground units on to transform them (for instance Footman to Knight like you mentioned), and also research the training needed to unlock each transformation (mostly Tier 3, except that Human Altar heroes already know how to ride a horse). Orc Beastiary could work sort of like this also, although with substantially different details (for one thing, you have to have more than just 1 type of mount available there -- at least wolf, Kodo, and giant bat, and maybe wyvern). Human would have the stronger mounts overall, but Orc would have the greater variety. This model doesn't fit Night Elf and Undead so well, but they could have other cool stuff to make up for this.

Pretty good idea, although Blizzard might find this too hard to balance for 4 factions * N variations (or even 3 factions * N variations). Be cool if they could pull it off, though.

i think it b awesome if the game was AS FAST-PACED as SC2, since you were talking about pace. when i got to play sc2 i was pretty satisfied with the pace, very sexy. and @ pyromania, if u remove orc, or change the race, it wouldn't be warcraft, the game was based on that original humans vs orc concept. and givin dk a motorcycle.

make quests IN GAME , like u can take quest from NPC's on the map or u can kill them so others couldn't take quest , quests would be kinda easy like like taking caravan to safety and other player can like attack u and fuckup stuff xD , or or like slay the dragon and get his head to NPC , but by the time u get there blademaster already killed him lol!

The campaign which everyone seems to have forgotten has addressed this greatly. Thankfully it seems that the BM is out of the picture. The Orc "campaign" for TFT included the Beastmaster, Thrall (FS), Trolls (SH or new troll here =>) and the Tauren. The Undead has broken free from the scourge which included the DL's. The Arthas (DK), Sylvanas (DR) now run the Undead. I beleive a DL ended up stickin with them too. NE is massively different with a huge rift and the potential (as mentioned) incorporation of the Naga. Human would seem the most stable but not at all. The entire human kingdom and therefore alliance has shattered. The hi elven city has been leveled and the blood elves are hell bent on vengeance and maybe in league with demons. So, many of the posts were operation like it was just going to be a patch. Considering the campaign is what creates the game, not the multiplayer, I would look closer at that for many potential new things.

On another note, many awesome Ideas about changes or new things for the game. I really like the idea of buffs having hp. In terms of WC3 id say purge kills any buff in one pop, so shaman can acutally be used in non RT games. Cause they r cool! Thats all.

Many things should and no doubt will be removed. Otherwise Those are some awesome ideas. Love the idea of having an upgrade for units similar to hh and stats. Even if it is tiny and just making them the higher tier unit that already exists, like your footman to knight. Maybe if a ghoul consumes X enemy corpses (no graveyard, no creeps) it turns to abomb. lol maybe not. but w/e.

Or just let ensnared units use their escape abilities like burrow and blink to negate them. I just dont see how a wimpy ass net stops a giant undead spider from burrowing underground. Or how the warden with a giant circular blade the size of her gets stuck in a net at all. Or CL with spikes on his back. Please.Ensnare would be more balanced if it only lasted for 4 seconds or less on ground and 1 second or less on heroes. Just a thought. IMO.

demon hunter can spot invisible units, because he is blind, not deaf

pitlord should be available only in undead altar. he will have an aura which reduces orc armor and/or damages orcs slightly each second. that is since all orcs belong to him.

THIS IDEA WILL BALANCE THE ORC vs UNDEAD MATCHUP

By that logic the Far Seer should be an in-game maphack.
And Pit Lords are members of the Burning legion, not the scourge [/nerd], if anything, the Dark Ranger should be in the UD altar.

An anti-orc aura, lol. It's funny we take the current matchups into consideration when WC4 matchups would be totally different, because it would be a DIFFERENT game.

All I want is a new Warcraft RTS with tons of new stuff, heaps of heroes per race (The more heroes, the more skills, more counters, less imbalance amirite?), ignore the WoW lore. Implementing the elements of the first two with the third one. Oh and, nerf towers, have them need peasants to be manned to work or at least have them cost food.

Also what is this talk about "cheap kills"? This is not counterstrike. It's a strategy game, a skill to force your opponent to fight is perfectly valid. Counters are fine, but removing those skills altogether would be dumb.

Not following the logic there.

Not necessarily. You'll just end up with more mg-like units (units that are completely useless).

That's retarded. Having to be manned would be a nice idea though.
