    Whats the word for this?

Im looking for a specific word for when someone has a revealing dream, which gives the person clues or hints helping him to solve a problem. For example in Shutter Island, Di Caprio's character had lots of these. Shakespeare uses this concept a lot, I think its in Macbeth, can't really remember. In the Simpsons, in the 'Who killed Mr Burns' episode, Wiggum has a revealing dream in which Lisa tells him to check Burns' suit.
So whats the word for this?

An epiphany has nothing to do with dreams, necessarily, it's just a flash of insight.

If you're looking for a specific reference to an insightful dream, it's not epiphany, strictly speaking.

The word I was looking for was epiphany. Yea, probably it doesn't need to be a dream, and the description I gave was pretty inaccurate, just needed to know that word, couldn't remember it. The example I meant to give from Macbeth wasn't even a dream, it was a ghost appearing.
