The Internet and its Impact on You!!

Ok so I'm doing a project on the Internet and Its impact on the social behaviour of the youth.
I've dug up a fair bit of info gathered from studies, I figured that I might as well throw in some case studies.
And well, where better to go to find people to help you out than an online forum full of internet junkies.

I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me out.

    1)Name:
    2)Age:
    3)Location:
4)Number of Hours spent on the internet per day:
5)What do you use the internet for?:
    6)What kind of games(Violent/aggressive/role playing/etc):
7)Number of hours spent playing online games:
8)Are you an aggressive person by nature? Have you always been like this?:
9)Has the internet affected your life in anyway? (time spent with friends, family, doing other things)
10)Do you think the internet has contributed in making the world smaller or pushing people apart into their
    own little islands?(Give reasons why)

And anything you'd like to say about the internet.

These are some of the questions that I could think of. If some of you could answer it and pm me if you don't want everyone to read your answers or just post it here.
Also any information that you guys think that I might find useful will do.

Just to explain my project a bit: Im kinda trying to state that the internet does affect social behaviour and at some levels hampers social skills while at other levels also helps enhance our capabilities... (The availability of info on the web.. etc.. types)

Thanks for all the help in advance.

4)Number of Hours spent on the internet per day: ~4 hours
5)What do you use the internet for?: Gaming, School Projects/Information, Finding information with health issues.
6)What kind of games(Violent/aggressive/role playing/etc): RTS; War Games?
7)Number of hours spent playing online games: ~4
8)Are you an aggressive person by nature? Have you always been like this?:
No, I'm far from aggresive. I used to be agressive when I was 7 years or so. But it faded away (I started playing computer games around that age aswell, but I don't know if there is a direct link between it, it can also be because I moved 300 Kilometers)
9)Has the internet affected your life in anyway? (time spent with friends, family, doing other things)
Its my main hobby, and I do it very often. But I will not ever cancel a appointment, date or not study at all for a test in order to make use of the computer. I can be fine on my own for a few days, but be fine in a group aswell.
10)Do you think the internet has contributed in making the world smaller or pushing people apart into their
    own little islands?(Give reasons why)
Makes the world smaller. Not much, but it does. I see more from korea and the USA then I whould without the internet. I communicate more often with people that are not-dutch. In some very rare cases it puts them on their own little islands (wow addicts), but as I mentioned befor, I will not (in)directly tell people that I can not come over or so because I have to make use of the computer. I will never eat meals behind the PC either.

7)Number of hours spent playing online games:1-3
8)Are you an aggressive person by nature? Have you always been like this?:Nope, quite calm
9)Has the internet affected your life in anyway? (time spent with friends, family, doing other things) Ofcourse. During my WoW-period I didnt spend as much time with friends, gf, etc.
10)Do you think the internet has contributed in making the world smaller or pushing people apart into their
own little islands?(Give reasons why)Well, from an IRL perspective, you get more isolated, you dont go out and see friends as often. But you might in fact have two-three times more relations over the internet than in RL. Hm, what conclusion am I trying to reach here -_-; Uh. Yes, I do think the "world gets smaller". Im a bit confused atm. Hope these answers helped you out anyway.

8)Are you an aggressive person by nature? Have you always been like this?: No, never been agressive
9)Has the internet affected your life in anyway? (time spent with friends, family, doing other things) Yes, I've thrown an important part of my life away by spending it on the internet and not outside.
10)Do you think the internet has contributed in making the world smaller or pushing people apart into their
own little islands?(Give reasons why) Yes, because of the internet people tend to forget that there's more out there... it happened to me and thousands of other people like me. The internet is good until you're addicted to it and you'll feel like you can't go without.

Good idea for a project ZiMMeR, good luck with it.

I guess its up to you to decide how much is too much.

I'd just like to say that without the internet, i'd be clueless(too lazy to research shit at library, but internet i'd read up on things i'd be too embarassed to even admit to knowing lol, i'd bored outta my mind, and i'd have to use a telephone to call friends, instead of just msg'ing them online.

Internet rocks. My comp has pretty much replaced the TV, games console, telephony devices, and even my stereo.. i guess im more social in that i chat with my friends more online than i would if we had no net, so i dont know if that makes me more social or less social since i see them less in real life..

The best thing about the internet is the freedom and ease of getting/sharing information. It's pretty much revolutionary in my eyes, the best thing to happen to humanity since the wheel, and i see it as a pivotal instrument that will lead us into the next human revolution/evolution era:p

5)What do you use the internet for?:Research, entertainment, education
6)What kind of games(Violent/aggressive/role playing/etc):I play pretty much all games. I only ever played Warcraft and Counter-strike to a level where I could be considered a decent player, though.
7)Number of hours spent playing online games:1-2
8)Are you an aggressive person by nature? Have you always been like this?:Mentally, I have always been an aggressive person. I have to restrain myself from flaming people a lot while on Internet forums. Physically, I'm very much against violence. I was in a lot of fights up until age 16, but decided to stop it.
9)Has the internet affected your life in anyway? (time spent with friends, family, doing other things) It takes up a lot of my time. It's my link to the world.
10)Do you think the internet has contributed in making the world smaller or pushing people apart into their own little islands?(Give reasons why)The internet has very much helped making the world smaller. The Internet is (to some degree) a meritocracy, meaning that your money or social status is much less important compared to your ability to communicate. This opens up for some very interesting possibilities for people of lesser means to communicate their ideas to a wider audience. Still, at the moment, the Internet is a "rich man's club", for even though it may be used a lot by the western middle classes, these are still part of the global upper class.

9)Has the internet affected your life in anyway? (time spent with friends, family, doing other things) Not really. If I wasn't doing this, I would be doing something else not having to do with them.
10)Do you think the internet has contributed in making the world smaller or pushing people apart into their own little islands?(Give reasons why): edit (let me rephrase that): It has definitly made communication easier, so that brings people together. I don't see any evidence that it is harmful to people though.

10)Do you think the internet has contributed in making the world smaller or pushing people apart into their own little islands?(Give reasons why).
Making the world smaller, yes. Of course, due the fast communication. For example. I'm able to have a webcam conversation with a girlfriend who moved to NY two weks ago. And my personal opinion is that people who want to be on islands will get there anyway. (putting all their intrest in one thing, IE homework, model ships in bottles, tv, an instrument, etc.)

Well, both I would say, we sit alone in our room, playing computer or chatting with friends instead of going outside to have a talk with your friends.

I can say that if I didn't use the internet so much, I'd have tons more friends in college right now. At the same time, however, I've met plenty of people and have become good friends with them (I've even partied with some and gone to concerts with some). People I would have never met in real life.
