Default Writing Department Openings

WCReplays.com is looking for a few more people for the Writing Department. At the moment, we have the following openings (number of positions in parenthesis):

Strategy Writers (2-3)

Interviewers (1-2)

Allround Writers (1-2)

Columnist (1)

Strategy Article Writers should be able to study and analyze various strategies and write in depth articles about them, making them more accessible and understandable to the public. While good playing skills is definitely a plus, it is not required as long as you have a good knowledge of the game and are able to do research and analyze the replays of top players to draw your conclusions.

Interviewers should master other formats than just the Q&A. Although we will assist you in choosing and finding interview subjects, you also need to be able to find and contact people yourself. Knowledge of the scene and the top-level players is therefore a plus. It is important that you are able to do some research on the subject so that you can formulate good and also critical questions that take us a bit further than just to the surface of the given interviewee.

Allround Writers should be able to write different types of material, like interviews, news articles and features. These positions are for those who like to write, and who do not want to limit themselves to one format only. While allround writers in general are free to choose their own topics, they may also be assigned to write about something in particular if necessary, so flexibility is important.

Columnists should be able to go into a particular topic that is some way related to Warcraft, and write a subjective article about it. You will not have to write all that much each time, but your column should present your view so that it gives food for thought and grounds for discussion. Humour is a plus, but not a must.

For all the positions, we are looking for people who can contribute on a regular basis. Working for the site is a lot of work, so it is very important that you like to do what you apply for. Good knowledge of the English language is obviously a plus, though material will be checked by an editor before publishing, so good writing skills are more important. Note that none of the staff members of WCReplays.com get any payment for their work, as this is a volunteer site.

If you want to try out for one of the positions, send your application within May 4, 2004 to applications@WCReplays.com. Make sure you include the following:

Name, age, location

WCReplays handle

Related experience

Which position you are applying for

Why we should pick you over anyone else

One or more samples of your work

Please take some time when writing your application. Remember that your application is your one and only chance to promote yourself and stand out in the crowd. Happy writing!

I will not apply for this because:
1. I would be denied since most of you are much better at it than me.
2. If I had a title for everything I do there would not be room for my avatar.
3. My writing skills would not be good enough to make a good application, and apart from point #1, I would be denied since people would have difficulty comprehending my plethora of nonsensical phrases.
Good luck to you all.

I'd lean towards the 'Famous' cataegory, usualy something like top 50 in their respective realm. No one wants an interview of some random level 35 on Asia

Partisan, I am not a member of the article department, I just help out from time to time. Not my fault the rest of those lazy drag-ass bums can't keep up.

Who said I'll write about one strategy? I review all popular strategies at any given time and use the best elements of all of them, if possible. That's what shapes my game. Suffice to say, I can get into the specifics of strats I don't use often if needed, I've been in the game long enough to get a good feel for everything.

They are like guest interviewers. I'm the only one with this title

We had a few trial interview staff, but they didn't do anything, and came as quick as they were forced to leave -_-
