The legendary team that is
Four Kings announced today that they have disbanded. The statement on the 4K website - written by
4K^Cassandra - states the team has split due to a lack of players and
other reasons. At this time, it has not been disclosed as to which team the former members are heading to, but with some large names previously in the team, you can bet it won't be long before someone signs them.
This must be one of the hardest post i have to make so far. I do not know how to start writing this post or what to start with. Hereby, i am making this post with a teary eye. Here goes: Today is a very sad day for 4Kings Warcraft III Team. Due to the lack of players and other reasons, we decided to shut down. I announce this with utmost regret that 4Kings Warcraft III team will not exist anymore after today. This will also mean we are giving up our WC3L spot to another team, thus we wish all the best for the next deserving team.

Ive supported 4Kings for a long time now, id say coming on over 3 years now. It all started going down hill when Creo retired, and then ToD left.

Not very surprising. The team nose dived as soon as ToD left. He was the face of their franchise and Grubby was the cancer that brought everybody down with his egoistic and classless attitude.
Grubby is a shell of his former self. He dominates Zotac just to get his self esteem up because he knows he can't compete at the pro level anymore. He could not get along with ToD. He could not accept the fact that ToD is better than him and that ToD is the face of the team and not Grubby.
4Kings gaming will not be missed. Their players, outside of ToD, were never really good. They were extremely overrated especially Grubby. What a joke.
Zeus and Fury were some of the biggest jokes in warcraft.

As much as I disagree with Undertow88's cynical comments about Grubby, I can not deny his skill level died quite a while back. ToD's abandonment coupled with Creo's retirement ended these Kings' reign a while back. A final salute to legends that once stood together.

It ain't a blow to WC3, but there're no really competitive European/American teams left. Maybe some will rise, but as it stands, Asia is going to dominate the scene, which obviously serves to decrease the interest in the West.

I would guess one of the problems was, and let's face, it Zeus and Fury, suck. But someone wanted them to stay and in the end that just annoyed the others who wanted the clan to keep improving. This would be a management failure if it is the case.

Very sad. I wouldn't say that wc3 is dead yet though, as long as there are still fans left (look at all the posts on this article). The best replays on this site now get 3000 or 4000 downloads, instead of the 10000 they used to get, but that's still something.

Why they disband, they could still do well with Grubby, Zeus, Fury, Lilldc. They needed one more player, then it could have been a great team. Zeus and Fury needed more time to improve then 4k could have chance to win WC3L. Bad decision to disband.

Thank you for posting very much what I wanted to say. 2002 (I believe)-2005 Fury and Zeus carried just as much as Grubby/Tod they were unbelievably good players. 4k.Fury lost only to Remind in Ladder Season 3 Finals and thats when Remind was in great shape. Enough with people talking shit about Fury and Zeus they did their part yea they started to get out of shape but I have faith they can both get back into it especially fury. Good luck to all the 4k players.
I like fury and zues, I seem to be the only one who does, but there is a fact that firing them and using their pay roles to hire someone else would have been a better idea. Fury and zues are GOOD plays, but they aren't top teir. Top teir clans need top teir players. Since 4k couldn't mantain a top teir status, to me it made sense to have zues and fury. I couldn't understand for the life of me, why they kept them after creo left and didn't hire someone good to replace him.
I saw this coming and I don't even pay attention to the scene, I just felt that the team was creeping into inactivity. I don't think this will kill the game of WarCraft; because personally I don't believe that many people will be quitting because their favorite team is now an non-entity.
Maybe that Fury and Zeus were not the top player a team like 4k needed, not in their shape anyway, but that certainly doesn't take away that they were once best players.

4k has been my favorite team as long as I've been following the scene, (about 3 years? started on version 1.16 I think) my very first replay I ever watched was grubby vs fury, (back when fury was awesome) and they killed everything the other person had, and were down to heroes and buildings, (no workers) and grubby eventually won using wolves to smash up fury's crypt while he was death and decaying grubby's base...
yeah, zues and fury went down hill. Try staying at your peak for 5 years, that's hard to do, especially with the same game.
I honestly thought the clan would pull through, but I was optimistic... I guess we see now why Grubby and DC have been doing Zotac lately though... reading the entire article on 4k's website, the shutdown was for basically financial reasons, (which they've mentioned quite a few times recently) so, hopefully, Grubby and everyone else will get another awesome clan. I could see grubby going to srs or one of the other "lesser" clans and giving them a major boost, I think SK has way too many people as is, but maybe becoming more of a Euro clan and less of a merc clan will be good for them.

Having watched some of the great games that came from the matches that 4K has participated in over the years and seeing them as a bar of excellence both as a clan in the Warcraft community and as individual players by which many others set out to immulate or beat, I think it is only fair to say that this is one clan that will be missed by the community as a whole. It will definately be a noticeable "space" that several other clans will struggle to fill.
Many people say that Zeus and Furry are not good anymore, that Grubby to has lost his edge as the great player he once was. There is one thing you should keep in mind about the elite contenders in any sport, there is always someone better. There is always someone training to take that crown. It doesn't always mean the champion wasn't playing his best, it just means someone else finally rose to the challenge and played better on any given day. If that did not happen, no sport would be fun as it would remain stagnant for years at a time. More importantly if that did not happen, you would not have "Legends" which is what you now have with 4K.
You would also never have someone regaining ther rightfully deserved crown, even if it is under a new clan tag, the man/woman playing the game is the same. One more thing I see mentioned, perhaps 4K didn't replace Fury because, like Grubby, he was 4K! Business being what it is, there is still something to be said for loyalty.

I wrote this to express my feelings towards this unbelievable event: "4K disband".
I've been a Grubby's fan since i started to play WC III , in the month that Insomnia won World Title against ChinaHuman (boy , what times ...). I became addicted to his replays , mostly cuz of his jokes :) and his unusual playstyle , which turned to be after his huge success very popular among warcraft players. Sadly nowadays some people forgot that, except maybe NE counter strategies perfected by him.
I remember in those times the "fall" of Mad]Q[Frog , which I couldn't understand it. He was such a perfectionist and dedicated to the game and still he dropped it after a while. I faced other failures (not warcraft related) of people that for no reason gave up the fight when they were still good at what they were doing.
It's sad but I think that everybody in this world has a Gauss bell curve in his destiny. I know people don't like predictions (at least not the bad ones) , but i'll try to make a few. 4K was never a strong clan , because only 3 players kept him at top , most of the time : ToD , Grubby , FoV|Creo. This 3(4) players won because of their team spirit and their awsome micro. I like to think that spirit was more important than micro. But they've lost it. U will ask "Why ?". Undertow88 I know all on this post blame u for ur thoughts. But there is some truth in what u are saying , mostly cuz u feel betrayed somehow , just like me when i faced Frog's situation (I liked him also). I couldn't accept it. Of course I'll say that Grubby is the main reason for 4K desband. He dropped the clan, left his friends and broke the team spirit, when he could have done something (he is one of the top players in the world after all).
My answer to all this is that people grow up and start to change. It's human nature. I think that pro gaming it's not an option as a profession for long term. Creo was right to leave the warcraft scene. Grubby's started to loose when he realized he must choose between gaming and what he wants to do with his life. Maybe he still struggles and that's why he can't get his focus back.
All warcraft players hope that Grubb will shine one more time in the near future. Personally I like him to choose something else. He has nothing to prove anymore , not for me at least.

The top players left because 4K's top management made a huge cut in the wc3 team's funds. Pro gamers make their money of playing a game whole day (practically). You can't expect top players to pay for their own trips to foreign countries, buy expensive equipment, and cover for all basic needs all in the sake of good team spirit. I'm sorry but there's some funds required to make a team work.
