Description
Just what we've all been waiting for this week: Grubby vs Philbot in a best of five~
Grubby spawns top left and Phil bottom right. The two players start off with what they're most familiar with: Far Seer/grunts for Grubby and Crypt Lord/fiends for Phil. Grubby takes to speed-creeping the green turtle camps right outside the spawning points; he gains so much experience so quickly that he has three times the amount Phil does when they first meet up. No matter; Phil's army of fiends/summons vastly outnumbers Grub's small squad of grunts and a Far Seer. Rather than dancing around the map like pansies, both players stick to creeping until tier 2 rolls around.
At tier 2, Grub begins the production of a Tauren Chieftan and constructs a beastiary for his trademark grunt/raider unit combination. Phil sticks to what he is best-known for too, training a Death Knight and summoning a slaughterhouse for statues and eventually destroyers. Of course, his fiend count doesn't slow down either. The first straight-up fight takes place at Phil's natural expansion. Warstomps are set off, death coils slung, ensnares unleashed, and impales are casted. Units narrowly die; units barely survive. Rar. Is it just me, or is getting hot in here?
Phil slightly emerges as the winner, and Grubby is forced to TP. This doesn't get to Grubby, as his army is back out and about in no time. The two players once again settle for creeping as their food count rises and armies are polished. Phil continues on with his fiend count, eventually supplementing his core force of range with the expected destroyers and a Naga Sea Witch. Grubby has thrown up another beastiary and is adding on kodo beasts and bat riders to his army.
The entire map is nearly creeped by the time their armies are complete. With gosu items and high hero levels, the rest of the game features mouthwatering, groin-tingling and micromanage-filled fights. High hero levels and close micro; a great way to start the series.
