Today was a big day in the American Warcraft scene, as we see the outbreak of one new clan, as well as the return of an old favourite. The first of these clans is the former Check 6 team, who, after a falling out with sponsors and some players losing interest in the game, have signed on with a new team. verGe Gaming was the squad of choice for the remaining players, a team who currently competes in the CAL league with a Counter-Strike: Source team.

Here is a quick statement from verGe on their new team:

Milwaukee, Wisconsin (October 11th, 2005.) --- Verge Gaming is pleased to announce the addition of an all star lineup to its Warcraft III division. The team, founded and owned by Matt Marcou, will be managed by Marcou and sponsoring partner, Jose Toro. Additionally the team will be led by Albert “GeNThO” Berriz.

“I am pleased by the recent sequence of events that allowed all of us to come together and form the most talented Warcraft III team in North America,” said Marcou, “I have known Albert for a few years now and with his help, the Verge Gaming Warcraft III division represents the finest talent North America has to offer.” Additionally, Marcou added, “I have come to know Jose Toro as a great business partner, who really has a fantastic vision for e-sports management. I welcome his support and enthusiasm.”

“Verge Gaming has come together more beautifully and effortlessly than I could have ever imagined," said Berriz. "We have the foundation of what I foresee being a serious player in the international community.”

Already the team is set to compete at the Digital Life Event in New York, the CPL World Tour: Chile, the World e-Sports Games in Seoul, Korea, and the World Cyber Games in Singapore. Furthermore, the team will be replacing Check 6 in the popular online Warcraft III league, WC3L.

Internationally recognized solo player, Matthew “Wizard” Anderson, made his hopes for the team known. Said Anderson, “I hope to achieve great success in WC3L with Verge.”

The other squad that is making it's glorius return as of today is none other then rS Gaming. After going through some tough times at the beginning of the WC3L season be losing their Warcraft III squad (with their players joining Check 6, now in verGe), rS has been out of the scene for quite some time. However, they are finally back, as the active players of the Canadian based clan Keepers of Destruction have moved on to rS in search of a more established team. This is what they had to say about their new team:

Lucas "Colbi" Bigham

"I am very pleased to be apart of this great organization. After seeing their dominance in Starcraft: Broodwar and Halo 2 it was only clear to me that the WarCraft III section would have much to live up to. However, I know with our great managers and players this can become a reality."

Arron "DarkChrono" Norwell

"We are very excited to join such an established and successful team as rS. We are looking forward to working to succeed with rS on an international level in the wc3l and in LAN tournaments. As our clan is known as the benchmark for manner in Warcraft III The Frozen Throne it should certainly be a mutually beneficial partnership."

Miles "StoP" Billeter

"Joining with a team as high caliber as rS is quite the accomplishment. One which we are grateful for. This is a step up for my players and the rS organization, and we hope to prove that in the next seasons of competition. Wish us luck on the way to the top!"
