GG Client Public Beta Test

As reported by SK Gaming, the infamous GG Client will be, for at least the next 2 days, open to the public to test out. Resgistration on their forums is currently open, which will grant one an account on GG Client as well. Then, just download the installer and move on from there.

For those of you in the dark about what GG Client is exactly, it is a program that near eliminates all lag from custom games played between people all over the world. This revolutionary program has been used by the WC3L and inCup tournaments for a while now for transatlantic matches, which further implies how useful GG Client really is.

  1. So, technically, how can a program "near eliminate" lag, when just IS a large distance between two programs? And if it's so relatively easy, why doesn't battle.net itself use such a technique?

  2. MAKE AN EDIT FUNCTION PLEASE ! When there just IS a large distance between two players*

  3. I love you blaze. ;

  4. Fit news !!! gg, GG game.

  5. LOL dani I want it too , EDIT is so usefull . so many mistype s these days

  6. Maybe they have specialized servers with low traffic and high speed located around the world

  7. Mwuhaha, cool.

  8. Maybe they have specialized servers with low traffic and high speed located around the world
ye but if mass player use gg client then they lag? :)

  9. its amazing, literally 0 delay.

  10. This is one gosuprobbq program o delay!!!111oneoneonebbqwtffs etc etc

  11. I have used this and hamachi. They dont work... All they do is connect directly..

  12. Yeah the lag is still there if the distance is long.. How can data go faster than it already is going trough the lines? A: It can't.. all they can do is connect directly and from Finland to USA the lag would still be huge.

  13. Guess it works as a proxy, usually home internet subscriptions (DSL, Cable etc) are fast enough to do local gaming and world wide webbrowsing (which doesn't require a low ping) but when you try to do world wide gaming, ping value increases tremendously when the distance becomes too big. Now if you put fast servers in between, which have perfect routing, it reduces the lag because both clients only connect to the servers and they do the traffic for you, rather then your own connection hopping over dozens of hops.

  14. Just played some games, really worked out for me!

  15. Still laggy for me, seems even b.net is faster :p even though I must say the lag wasn't very big when I played vs a player from China who also hosted. However, I can play reasonably on Kalimdor without much lag either, I'm from Holland so that distance is quite big.

  16. I seem to be getting some SQL error while trying to register... Have they been shut?

  17. Invite me please !

  18. The reason for that lag are those Battle.net Servers, which the signal has to pass first. The GG-ones are faster (or just optimated for low-ping-connections).

  19. Sounds cool, gonna try this out :)

  20. The difference between the two is that on B.Net the game uses the standard protocol, but over GG Client it uses the LAN protocol (less manufactured delay). It makes up for the LAN protocol problems (spikes) by spamming the packets (anti-spike set from low to highest). Personally I'm surprised it makes such a huge difference, but the players seem to believe it does (I haven't tried it personally).

  21. Nice, Like the fact u can chat and Advertise ur game

  22. Ah finally xD

  23. And what about ladder lagg??? Does gg-client eliminate lagg from ladder games???

  24. And what about ladder lagg??? Does gg-client eliminate lagg from ladder games???

I think that's something they are going to work on doing later on, from what it seems they are having a pretty rough time with the disconnections and such from games as it is so I'm sure that's in the back of their list of things to do.

  25. When i press start game nothing happens... help me!

  26. It would be interesting to know exactly how GG client's protocol runs.

  27. SCOREEE

  28. remember that the b.net servers in europe lies in sweden, it goes from your comp, to the server in sweden and then to the ppl u hosted for.But as i aunderstood it, the client doesnt take a "detour" and then reducing lag.. correct me if I'm wrong
