Fancy winning $150? Well, you may be in for some luck, as Gravitas Gaming are hosting a contest, in which any user can challenge a player of their choice from the Gravitas squad and if they beat them in a best of five, then they automatically win the prize money. The matches could be pretty interesting as Gravitas are supposedly going to cover all of them; release replays and provide shoutcasts for them.

Gravitas Gaming would like to announce a new challenge for the Warcraft III community, the Gravitas Gaming Warcraft Challenge. This new challenge will happen every month at www.GravitasGaming.net starting in January so make sure to send in your challenge and stay tuned for many exciting matches.The challenge will be open to anyone interested in competing against the professionals on Gravitas, and there will be a prize of $150 for beating the player of their choice. The challenger will decide upon the enemy of his choice from the Gravitas Gaming Warcraft III team and they will do battle in a best of 5 format. Below are the details for the challange.

Yoan "ToD" Merlo who has recently been the centre of attention following his depature from 4Kings to join Mouz has been interviewed by GG Game. In this ToD shares his opinions on DotA, his new team and the upcoming patch. Here's an extract:
    How do you like Mousesports after you joined the team?

    I like the team pretty much, i haven't been in for a long time but i can already feel that the managment is really focused on treating the players really well, and the teamspirit is pretty good so far aswell.

    There are rumors that mouz will recruit another top player in the roster. Any hints? Which race does Mouz need most for now?
    The are rumors we might add someone yeah, nobody said it would only be 1 player though ^^ in my opinion we need an additional Elf

    Many professional players also play DotA for fun. Mouz just adds DotA Squard recently. Do you also play DotA?
    Yeah i do play a lot of DOTA lately, it's a really fun and addictive game, the dota scene is already huge and still growing, there is some highlevel players, some superstars, some most used heroes and strategies, i find all this very interesting and it all takes place on ggclient so it's easy for me to find opponents and make sure it doesnt lag too much.

Mousesports Drop Two

Mousesports have just dropped two of their Chinese players from the roster; Ellis and Laowu. After some recent good pickups for the team, it seems that the time has come for them to lose some of the lesser known players within it.

The membership of laowu and Ellis in the WarCraft III team of mousesports is terminated with immediate effect. After they had joined the team alongside other Chinese young stars in May, they are now going to concentrate on new challenges.

The above statement was taken from the Mousesports website.

Gosugamers also claim that the Mousesports manager told them that the reason for Laowu's drop, was because of his age - twenty three - and that Ellis had been getting bad results recently.

Insomnia Officially Retires

The human legend, Zdravko "SK.Insomnia" Georgiev has now officially retired, confirming the rumours. Insomnia has been playing for SK-Gaming for five years, and has been playing WC3L since its beginning. Insomnia has achieved much through his long career, winning WCG 2003 at the peak of his career. Here's an extract from his blog on SK-Gaming, where he states the main reason to retiring as the game was simply 'getting boring':
    A few months after I came home - in early 2004 I started getting regular salary from SK, money enough for me to live my life the way I wanted. I kept on practicing and attending tournaments and made numerous high place finishes, but slowly tournament after tournament, day after day I was losing my interest in War3, I was getting bored of it. I will be honest with you guys, in the last year - year and a half I mostly played because I had no other source of income.

    Finally exactly 5 years after I joined SK I decided to tell everyone in the team how I felt and that I wanted to quit even tho I still had a running contract. On November 15th 2007 we all gathered in the SK office in Cologne for the upcoming wc3l finals and I used this opportunity to make the announcement. Big shout out goes to Alex, whom most of you know as TheSlasH - the SK Gaming global manager. He understood me and supported me in my decision. Thanks Alex, thanks for the support and the motivation you provided through all these years, thanks for leading the team forward and thanks for always being there when needed. I also want to thank my latest teammates - ReMinD, Soju and Lyn. SK could not have wished for better guys to join and strengthen the team. I have had great respect for all of them, long before they joined SK and was very happy when I heard we were recruiting them to the team. They all have an insane amount of potential. Thank you guys for the great performance at the WC3L playoffs, allowing me to end my career with a great victory.

    I want to apologize to you guys for not putting up the announcement in time. The reason why this happened is simple. We wanted to have this blog up on the page along with the news item, but I just couldn't find the time to write it. Now when my time is not occupied with war3 I've had so many new things entering my life it's crazy. I am doing different kinds of sports 4 times a week now. Yesterday I went snowboarding, had so much fun. I also resumed my university studies and started socializing with my friends a lot more. I am also playing poker online to be able to get some income, but I am not focusing on it nearly as much as I did on games before. All in all life has been great and I certainly don't regret my decision to leave the scene.

    Last but not least I want to thank you guys. Thank you for the great support you provided during all those years, I hope I was able to give something back to you through my games. My advice to you is never to give up on your dreams, no matter what. That is the key to success, that everyone’s looking for.

    What do you think about the current balance in wc3? Which changes do you want to see in nearest patches?

    I think WC3 is currently well balanced, but it's getting boring if there isn't any patch in the future. Hmm, I can't say which changes I want to see, because I think that every race can beat the other race.

    What you think about the current map-pool and about item-drops?

    I don't like Gnoll Wood, it's hard for humans to play on this map. The item-drops is ok but I miss the mask of death like in RoC :)

    What do you think you need to do to become a pro-gamer?

    Much motivation, much train and good nerves :D And 5-6 months of hard train? :) Well, it is enough if you play regularly.

The China E-sports Games have once again returned, this time stopping in Changchun. The tournament has invited many rising Chinese stars, combined with the famous professionals of WE.Sky, mouzWazap.Fly, wNv.xiaOt, MYM]Moon, SK.ReMinD, BeT.SweeT and BeT.FoV.

The top two players qualify from each of the eight groups to the single elimation bracket. In the group stages, all the expected players qualified except MYM]Moon who crashed out of his group, losing out to WE.Like and WE.suhO and mouzWazap.Fly who had one of the toughest groups with WE.Sky and SK.ReMinD.
