There was a huge issue about this some time ago. Everyone changed their backgrounds. Then Blizz pointed out that this was against the agreement, to change any of the MPQ files. So, you get banned if you change your background.

I think they can´t, until next patch, then you can´t patch and go on battle.net because you have corrupted warcraft III files.

Nah, blizz is playing it safe. If they let this go, people can start violating other parts of the agreements and blizz's hands are tied.

surely there has to be away around it? like creater a subdir in the warcraft folder so your not directly editing the MPQ file? (i.e. if in the MPQ file the background is located in bnet\ui\background.**) surely we could put it in Warcraft III\bnet\ui\
for example? then we wouldnt be breaching the EULA?
maybe we should take it to blizz, cuz id know id like to change backgrounds, myself.

U can change it but u need to change it back to install patch 1.17. If u have 1.17 installed u could probably re-change it but don't go on battle.net then unless u want to be banned.

its not that big a deal to have a backround....play the damn game and u wont even see the backround ^_^. that prob what blizz is thinkin by not lettin u change it...they made a game to be played, not to jus have ppl sit in a chatroom allll day lookin at a backround.
