I am starting to get the impression from you Knuckles throughout these boards that the "under 40 minute" rules on this thread are simply a covert way of attempting to segragate people...Like the Grandfather Clause in the Civil War Era.

Such segragations simply cannot be made between "Art that took less than 40 minutes" and "high quality art" (which is a completely lose and subjective term as is), as evidenced by the amazingly high quality of art that has been exemplified in this thread thus far.

Hmm, I suppose its decent, but I don't think it quite merits the Elite Paint Society. (you must understand it takes amazing artistic quality to merit it as such)

Take a look at the Griffon Rider I posted above, or Str1ngs amazing portrayal of a worker dual. Another fine example is that done by twin on page 2, simply a masterpiece.

I believe that this peice strongly depicts the devotion of the lone Demon Hunter riding upon his trusted steed with his weapons up and ready for any attack. Just look at the very passion in his eyes. Quite dramatic. Illidan (the demon hunter) plays a key role in the preservation of his nation, being the only male left alive after the Undead nuke wiped out over half the population. Anyway, I'm making this thread and stickying it so you all have a place to post paint art that took a lot of efforts to make, that way people won't just mindlessly flame your work because it's paint.

first of all, do not use the pencil. it sucks. lmao its just not good. using circles lines and curves are better. just erase the extra lines

if your gunna color it find the colored pic of that and use the pick color to get the different shades of green etc. thats what i did wen i color my guys lol, like on my cl pic i first drew it out, then i found a pic of a cryplord and used pick color (lol its underneath the eraser) and then color it using the brush. the bucket of paint thing isnt good bc i dunno,i just dont like it lol.

First try at using paint for actual "art", if you can call it that... worked on it for like 2.5 hours total I guess, since I screwed up alot with paint. I think the moral is, paint really makes me apreciate when I had Photoshop and Paintshop pro. Feedback is welcome.

Paint bucket is just laziness I guess, the brush would give alot better control over shading, but I think it depends on scale. I did this kinda small, so brush use is harder.

Tell you what, have you seen a drawing guide? Start with a stick figure, just like you would do with a pencil and paper, then flesh it out with ovals. There is an oval tool in paint, or so I'd hope...use that to make circles, arms, and stuff like that...then add the details. I may get around to it someday...maybe.
Oh wait...you're doing a frigging Lich...I guess there's a reason that nobody did a lich in paint...because it'd just look rather bad without being able to add the real bone detail, not because you can't or don't have the talent to, but because paint won't let you, more or less...moral of the story, paint so restricts you that you would need to put far more effort or have far more talent with paint than someone with pencil and paper.

Look, I really have nothing against you, but with all of this recent paint bullshit (not saying it's you), it's all gonna become flame bait and soon. imo. Again, due to the utterly overwhelming restrictions paint puts on you, we can say your picture is good for the medium you were using. That's a given...compared to all of the other paint BS, it looks like there's a good deal of effort in it...but when you compare it to other people who used different mediums, who you may or may not be more talented than as an artist, your work simply lacks due to the medium it was done in.

Final thought: It's good for paint...but compared to pencil/paper/pen/photoshop, it was a good try, but held down.

Hopefully that got the point across better.

In regards to all the "omgz its not art if its not done in photoshop!!1" replies, the tools do not make the artist. You can an idiot Maya and PS CS, and can give an artist a box of crayolas, who do you think will make the better piece of art? You do need work on your paint art Soh, but as I said before, it's more than just a stick figure or completely badly drawn so I'm leaving it here.
DG: Remember when you art was put up and you yelled at people yelled at you when you didn't draw the most basic things and you kept asking to get them banned? Now you're doing exactly the same thing with another artist starting out in paint, rather than on paper. And about getting better, well, on my birthday (august 27th) I spent the whole day at the bookstore tracing key notes from anime books such as body proportions, anatomy, poses, proportions, certain tutorials, etcetera...I just haven't taken the opportunity to implement them yet, because I'm still waiting for Kirsty's critique of my Maiev piccy.

No wonder your pictures look so damn good even in paint...you use the basic anime/manga style to draw them...as best you could in paint, of course...try it with pencil and paper, though, and see how it comes out...

And my comments stay...unless you're 0wen, don't post paint. There is a certain freedom that pencil and paper gives that you can't get from paint...but apart from that, I'm gonna go fully with Aremah on this one...

As long as it all remains confined to this thread, it's all good. But think of this, concerning my previous posts. Ken's paint panda is good compared to most of the paint stuff being posted. Really good. But then compare it to anything else Ken has drawn traditionally and/or digitally, and suddenly, it's not so good anymore. Very bad, actually. It's as simple as that.

If you can't control your urges to come in this thread and show off elitist behavior in the form of:"This is not worthy of art." or something like that, then don't come to this thread.

I didn't do this in pm so that everyone can see I don't approve this behavior. That means this warning is good for everyone. Starting now, I will delete any post with the general idea of "Paint sucks, this is not art".

DarkLich - thanks for acting like a moderator should. Now if you can only constraint all paint pics to one of the two threads, it's all good.

I wasn't flaming, by the way, I was stating my opinion. I believe the comparison is really simple, especially as shown by Ken. His Paint version of the Panda looks quite good for something done in Paint, and so do some of the other pics here. But now take a gander at any other picture of Ken's. I think it's rather obvious what I'm trying to say. It's like comparing the art of a two year old to that of a still learning, but nonetheless an art student.

Some pictures done by two year olds are much better than others, but they should only be compared amongst themselves. Again, if it all stays contained, it's all good. But if it doesn't, no only does it look bad for the site, but also scares away other potentially much more valuable artists.

Every post I delete is spam/off-topic/flaming. Tons of posts are deleted because there are tons of the above in it. Just try to make posts are are more than "lol, agreed", don't flame, and always ask yourself "Is this post a comment about the artist's work? Is it a way to improve his method?". If not, don't post, and you'll save everyone trouble.

Why did I delete the posts aremah and ken made? Even though they were polite, the general idea of them was "Paint is not as good a medium as the one I use", and that kind of thing is unnacceptable. There are different mediums for different kind of people, and if they want to make things in paint, where you draw with shapes instead of lines, then it is their right, and no one can take that right from them, or insult their work.

But enough of this, let's get back on topic.

Wow... Amazing how you think just because someone made a tinker stand in a certain way noone else can do it. He didn't copy the "original" work, he made it from scratch being inspired by it(I think). No copyright laws applies for that kind of thing since he never claimed to have come up with the "original" idea.
