You have a 3 gallon and 5 gallon jug. Achieve the goal of having 4 gallons of water in one of the jugs. Remember! Must be precise

easy u noob pour everything into a 5 gallon and then pour the 5 gallon into the 3 gallon

u will have 2 gallons remaining in the the 5 gallon jug (5-3) = 2

repeat and u will have 4

unless u only have those two jugs

then u empty out the 3 gallon jug and then pur the 2 gallons u have in the 5 gallon jug in the 3 gallon jug, then refill the 5 gallon jug and then try to refill the 3 gallon jug with the 5 gallon only 1 gallon will be able to go onto the 3 gallon one (because it had 2 gallons to begin with) and thus (5-1) = 4

How much water is there to start with? 5 gallons? I've done this problem before, but I'll be damned if I can remember it.

Pour water into the 5, start emptying what you have into the 3, leaving 2 gallons in the 5 and 3 gallons in the 3.

Pour out the 3, and pour the 2 gallons from the 5 into the 3. Fill up the 5, and pour out however much you can into the 3 (which will only be 1 gallon as there is already 2 gallons in the 3). This will leave you with 4 gallons in the 5 gallon jug.
